Over at Cockeyed.com: the pseudo-science of dropping toast--with pictures. Very funny.

Another Tom Waits article. Thanks, SB!

I found out today that my Dad used to smoke. This, the guy who I have only seen drink alcohol twice in my entire life, was a smoker back before I was born. He said that he would usually get about 20 miles per cigarette while driving, ten miles while smoking, ten miles until he felt the need for the next one. The day he quit, he was reaching for the next cigarette & discovered that he already had one in his mouth. He threw that one & the entire pack out the car window & never smoked again.

Huh. Who'd'a thought?

US town considers backyard wrestling ban:
Ryan Perry, 18, told The New York Times: "The Taliban, they banned sports in the country of Afghanistan. If you want to ban this, you're similar to the Taliban regime."
Who says the younger generation aren't political?

Somehow, I seriously doubt that ol' Ryan actually used the word "regime"....

I'm a huge Tom Waits fan, so it did me good to see a NYT article about him. I desperately want to see him live. That would be sooooo cool. (via Webcrumbs)

I usually listen to Waits when I'm feeling down or melancholy.....I've practically worn out my Tom Waits cd's in the past few months--but they're just so good....

Well, I've managed to recover about two-thirds of my links from memory, but I'm still missing quite a few. Double grrrrr.

Oh, and if we occasionally swap e-mails & you want me to have your correct e-mail address & it's changed in the past year, I've lost it. Please resend.

I upgraded to WindowsXP this weekend, and in the process lost almost all of my Netscape bookmarks. Not sure how, as they were on an entirely separate drive. Grrr.
