I AM SUCH A TOOL...

I did a little splurge today & bought the new Beck album "Sea Change". It cost me $13.99. I almost could have got another "Star Wars" or "Spider-Man" 2-DVD set for that price.

I feel cheated.

YAWN

Feeling uninspired. Anyone wanna inspire me?

SPEAKING OF STAR WARS...

Via the Daily Probe:
Democrats Regrouping at Snow Base on Planet Hoth

HOTH (DPI) - Menaced by the growing power of the GOP and smarting from last Tuesday's defeat, Democratic forces have regrouped at a secret base on the remote ice planet Hoth. In response, GOP leadership has ordered probe droids to blanket the galaxy to flush them out and, in the words of Cmdr. Darth Lott, "put an end to this pitiful party once and for all." Led by Al Gore-Kenobi and Tom Daschlewalker, Democratic leaders vow to be strong enough to "pull the ears off a Gundark" by next election. Former Vice Presidential candidate Joe Lieberman was last seen headed for the Dagobah system.

OH. MY. GOD.

I splurged today & bought both "Lord of the Rings" (the 4 DVD set) & "Star Wars: Ep II". 6 DVDs worth of stuff cost me a grand total of $45. Heh. If CDs were this cheap (less that $8 per disc), there wouldn't be any P2P downloading of music.

"SW Ep II": I've said it once, I'll say it again: George Lucas can't write a love scene for shit. Remember the scene where the two lovebirds are sitting in front of the fireplace, Padme wearing that leather bustier, & Anakin supposedly pouring his heart out? There's not one contraction in that whole scene. Not one "can't", no "I'll", zero "won't". Who really talks like that? Still, the digital picture & sound are amazing, even on my cobbled-together surroundsound system, plus watching the Jedi kick ass would make anyone's day brighter. A must buy, especially at that price.

"LOTR": The extra 30 min of movie are mostly the extention of scenes, which is pretty cool. Boromir's death is much more heroic now, which makes it a close second to the whole Moria stuff for "Leper Messiah's Favorite Scene". There are a few new scenes, though, and those really flesh out the already meaty story. One that I especially like is the gift giving by Galadriel as the Fellowship are leaving Lothlorien. The sound & picture for this movie are fantastic, as are the extras (especially notable is the "interactive" map of Middle Earth). There are also four(!) full-length audio commentary tracks for this movie. I'll be watching this & finding new stuff for many weeks to come.

My only complaint? The small screen just doesn't do "LOTR" the justice it deserves. It's truly one of those movies that must be seen on the big screen to be fully appreciated.

Now, as I've been watching movies all night to the point where my eyeballs are ready to bleed, I'm going to bed.

ODD THOUGHT O' THE DAY

What if all of the wildfires this past summer were caused by God trying to do the whole "burning bush" thing for someone, and it just got out of control? All it would take is a little crossbreeze and up goes the dry underbrush...

Can you tell I'm tired?

RECOVERING

I closed down a bar last night. Do any of you know how long it's been since I've done that? As a result, I'm a hurting unit today.

"Come hang out with me at the bar," she said. She didn't mention that she knew 90% of the people in the place. That's about as intimidating a social situation as going to a wedding where the ONLY person you know is the bride.

I don't do well in intimidating social situations.

Still and all, it was fun. I'd happily do it again, if for no other reason than it gets me out of the house more often. The patrons were fun people, and she is very attractive, both physically & personality-wise.
