WOO-HOO! New book from William Gibson due out Feb 3rd! This time, the "father of cyberpunk" makes the present day the setting for his tale. Go here for more info AND to read an excerpt. Gibson's also started a weblog. Check it out. Gibson has always been a favorite of mine, mostly for his unique style. It's very culturally referential, much like Dennis MIller's humor, but in such as way that it actually adds to the atmosphere instead of detracting from it (much like Dennis Miller). What other established author would use the word "google" as a verb? In a world where most writers seem to speak with the same voice, it's very refreshing. By coincidence, the release of Pattern Recognition coincides with the 1st birthday of this website. An omen? You make the call. |
