IT WAS ACTUALLY...ENJOYABLE Watched the NHL All-Star Game today. It was actually enjoyable, unlike the last several All-Star games. The West beat the East 6-5. The game had a couple first-ever events. Dany Heatley scored five goals--the most goals scored by one player in an All-Star game ever. In his first appearance, no less! Also, this was the first All-Star game to still be tied at the end of overtime, forcing the game to go to a shootout. Now, normally, I'm very much against shootouts. The whole concept of shootouts takes a team sport and boils it down to an individual effort. Maybe I woulddn't be so against it if they drew five names at random fo reach team. In any case, this was the closest All-Star game I can remember, two pretty evenly matched teams, getting more & more gritty as the clock ran down. If only they were all like that. |
