MISC. I finally figured out what has been bugging me so much about Dubya's rhetoric for about the past month. Have you ever seen those ads for the store "going out of business", but it never seems to actually go out of business? All of the empty threats coming from the White House seem like that to me. In this case, instead of "buy now, before it's gone!", it's "comply now, before we bomb!". Dubya constantly speak about time running out, but it never seems to actually run out. What ever happened to "speak softly, but carry a big stick"? Making threats without following through on said threats is worse than not making the threats in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I think that war is the correct option, but I deeply dislike how Dubya has gotten us to this point. The man is still an idiot. How 'bout we just exclude the state of Florida in the next election? It seems like they aren't ready for that little thing called "democracy" that the rest of us enjoy. Even third-world countries can manage to vote trouble-free, but not Floridians. Not even if we sent Jimmy Carter to monitor the polling places. Perhaps the rest of the country can choose their leaders for them instead? Why is it that every time the French leaders open their mouths, they end up proving the point of their critics? Just because the majority of people don't agree with you doesn't automatically mean that they are right. Or smarter. Or more wise. It seems sadly ironic that the same generation that taught us the goodness of greed and consumerism the 80's with their yuppie ways will eventually bankrupt the federal government when they all retire. It will be even worse if Dubya's budget/tax cut plan goes into effect. How many of those former yuppies will have to settle for substandard nursing homes when the government's Social Security checks bounce? How many will have to sell their retirement community condos in order to pay for their perscriptions? Will used Cadillacs flood the market when the price of hip replacement skyrockets? Going to Kansas City this weekend. Anyone want me to bring them back something? Sunday, February 16, 2003
FROM THE "TOO MUCH FREE TIME" FILE Mathematicians have worked out the scientific formula for the perfect Bond girl. Experts at the Science Museum say she is brunette, brown-eyed, British, 5ft 7ins and boasts the vital statistics 35-23-34.In other news, mathematicians still can't get dates. IF YOU COULD JUST WALK A MILE IN ANOTHER MAN'S SHOES... It appears that Dubya and Saddam have something in common--they both wear the same brand of hand-made Italian shoes. Vito, who runs his business in Milan, said: "It came as a bit of a surprise when I noticed the order forms from both Saddam and President Bush.Gee, maybe this is the one thing that can open a dialogue between these two leaders... |
