TURN, TURN, TURN

That head cold that I got on the flight from St Louis to DC? Yeah, it has turned into an inner ear infection. I woke up this morning to a spinning room. I walk around as if really drunk. It has made me really klutzy.

Ok, more klutzy.

On the good side, I'm on antibiotics, and should have something for the dizziness shortly. It's just not exactly the way I wanted to end my week.

NEW MOVIE QUOTE

Ok, due to a lack of movie knowlege by you Philistines, I shall change the quote.

"Alright, you primitive screwheads, listen up. See this? This is my BOOMSTICK!" is from "Army of Darkness".

"...OH, HOW THEY DANCED..."

Yeah, I'm back. I got a nasty head cold on the flight to DC (damn recycled air!), so the flight home was much more painful than it had any right to be. My left ear still refuses to pop. Ugh.

ANYWAY...Friday was ok. The flight was just fine, my Bonine worked wonderfully (no airsickness!), and Dulles was only mildly confusing. There was this huge people-tram that you needed to take from the terminal you unloaded in to the baggage/main terminal. Few seats + driver that likes to slam on the brakes = mucho entertainment. Met S at the baggage claim, got the hell out of there, and hit the road. Made a quick stop at Panera for a cinnamon bagel, as I hadn't eaten in about 11 hours. After that, met up with L, and went to dinner at Mike's. Good food, excellent margaritas, and a fantastic waiter (who sounded like he was auditioniong for a radio DJ spot) that kept giving me updates on the hockey game (stupid Senators).

Saturday started well. Breakfast at Bob Evans, and then we went to see "The Martix: Reloaded" at 11am. An 11am showing almost completely full--silly urbanites! Apparently, Movietickets.com actually works out there, instead of charging you & never giving yo utickets like here in DM. Anyway, after that, Steve & I went to the Air & Space Museum via the Metro. Now, the Metro is the most clean, most logical, most functional public transit I've ever seen. It's also probably the most high-tech, with displays that tell you when & which train is arriving next. Very impressive.

Anyway, after exiting the Metro, we wandered along the Mall. I saw the Washington Monument in the distance, but it was too far to walk to see. We were also accosted by a person who grabbed our attention by stating "I see you gentlemen aren't wearing your smiles." Se handed us these ugly stickers "for free", saying that she was with an organization (of which I missed the name) that works to keep kids off of cocaine & heroin. In return for the stickers, she asked that we offer a donation. We looked at each other & just walked off. Sorry, but if you're looking for donations, confronting me in public & trying to guilt me into giving is not going to work.

We walked through a cool sculpture garden, and then onto the museum. It was fairly crowded, but then it was Memorial Day weekend. Got to touch an FM-1 Wildcat (too cool!) as well as a worn-flat piece of moonrock (very underwhelming). Lots of NASA stuff, too.

Saturday night was a party of bloggers, including Divinest Sense, Genehack, and Breaching the Web (and her hubby). Much alcohol was consumed (JenB brought a bottle of scotch), and the evening ended with a viewing of "Monty Python & the Holy Grail".

Sunday was a bleary breakfast at Chipotle (a Mexican burrito place) and then the National Zoo. The zoo was cool, as I finally got to see the pandas. Between all of the cameras we had, there were around 80 pics taken, including one of yours truly.

Following that, a quick drive to Reagan National airport, a long flight, and back home.

All in all, it was a too-short visit, but well worth the trip.
