TO ALL OF MY FRIENDS... Please stop having children. It's interfering with my social schedule. Yes, last weekend, R & I went to Kansas City, MO, to visit my friend Bill, his wife, and their new baby. Actually, we were there to go to the NHL preseason game between St Louis & Chicago, but it was good to see Bill, too. We also got lost trying to find the Plaza, a hoity-toity shopping area near downtown. The next day, when we finally found it, R almost had a seizure when she saw the Armani store, but it was the four-story Barnes & Noble that really excited her. Ew. Giant wolf spider running across the floor. Must spray. Anyway, the game was, for me, kinda dull. R, on the other hand, LOVED it! I've made another convert to the case of hockey being the best sport in the world. I was showered with questions by her, but I really didn't mind as her excitement was plainly evident. The next day, we ate breakfast at First Watch, went to the Plaza (successfully, this time), and then visited the Kansas City Zoo. It is an older zoo, not as well maintained in some areas as in others. Their Africa area is the highlight of the zoo, but the other exhibits weren't bad. R disagreed, saying that many of the cages were too small and not stimulating enough for the animals. To be honset, I previously didn't pay much attention to that, but I think she was right. Overall, the KC zoo isn't as good as either Omaha or even Des Moines, but it was still an enjoyable visit. On the way home, we stopped at Mr Goodcents, a decent sub place that R worshiped. It was ok, but it made her happy, so it was worth it. Future trips we'd like to take are to see an NHL game in St Louis (Bill?), Chicago, or Minneapolis (Eric?). It'd be nice to go to a Caps game in DC, but we really can't afford that right now. We'd also like to see the Minnesota Zoo, but that may have to wait for Spring. DCI is in Denver next summer, but again, I don't think we can afford to go to that, either. YUM! If you want the best orgasm-in-your-mouth breakfast you'll ever have, eat at First Watch. Especially the one in North Kansas City. |
