LET'S SEE HOW THE OTHER SHOE FITS

Imagine for a sec that other Presidents had used Dubya's "up-is-down"-ism. What might it sound like? Well, wonder no more!

CLINTON: "Y'see, the death of six Army Rangers in Somalia just goes to prove that the warlords that run that country are getting desperate. They don't want to see the Somali people rebuilding their country, getting jobs, and their kids going to school. This is good news for us."

CARTER: "The taking of American hostages in Iran just goes to prove exactly how afraid the mullahs are of a free and prosperous people. Their hatred for America and everything we stand for is a strong signal that we are on the right track."

KENNEDY: "The fact that the Soviet Union placed intermediate range nuclear-armed missiles in Cuba is a sure sign of the Kremlin's desperation. Only a repressive regime living in constant fear of American might would stoop to such an act."

ROOSEVELT (FRANKLIN): "The sneak attack by the Japanese Empire upon Pearl Harbor is an indication that Japan is at the end of its rope. The sinking of a good portion of the Pacific Fleet is a good omen for the future."

Can anyone not see the Republican masses foaming at the mouth had any of these statements been uttered? Rush Limbaugh (once he gets out of rehab, of course) would personally fund the development and construction of a time machine just so he could go back and berate the then-President.

ADMISSION OF DEFEAT?

MSNBC reports that some in the Pentagon are debating whether they should retask some of the troops currently assigned to the WMD hunt to counter-insurgency.

Is this an admission that WMD's are no longer as important as stopping the attacks on U.S. troops? Does this mean that some in the government think the WMDs will never be found, if they exist at all? All I know is that this is more prime ammo for the Democratic presidential hopefuls.

DUBYA MONEY QUOTE:
“Iraq is dangerous, and it’s dangerous because terrorists want us to leave, and we’re not leaving.”
Ahhhhhh, Dubya, you always know how to make me laugh....

SERIOUSLY...

Why doesn't the RIAA target secondhand or used CD stores? Surely the label doesn't get any money from a resale, and it makes more sense to sue the businesses rather than trying to roll 10 year old kids and grandparents for a few thousand bucks.

Can someone please explain it to me?
