DROPPING THE HAMMER

Heard on the local NPR morning show:
Two archeologists were at a dig in Norway, when they uncovered a huge statue of the Norse god Thor. It was a very impressive statue, showing Thor posing with his hammer. The most striking feature was that the eyes on the statue were two huge rubies. The two archeologists soon began to argue over who should get the credit for the discovery. The argument lasted long into the evening. A gathering crowd of site workers were greatly entertained by the disagreement. When the issue was finally settled, the audience disbanded. One worker turned to the other and said "Well, that was a fight for Thor eyes..."

WHAT'S GOOD FOR THE GOOSE...

Instapundit features a few choice quotes from others on the whole Dubya-going-AWOL thing:
[T]he same people were trying to convince us in 1992 that Bill Clinton's draft-dodging was no big deal. Surely the Democrats don't think we're that stupid. . . . What a bunch of lying, hypocritical phonies.
To which I reply:
The same people that were trying to convince us that Bill Clinton's draft-dodging was a HUGE character issue are now saying that Dubya's going AWOL isn't a big deal. What a bunch of hypocritical babies! They can dish it out, but they can't take it when their boy is held to the same standard to which they hold their opponents. How stupid do they think we are?
And:
"Every time a Bush hater attacks his military service record, they are slandering my dead comrades, people who died in military aviation serving their country."
To which I reply:
Every time I see Dubya drape himself in martial glory, parading around in a flight suit like a conquering hero, I am reminded that he couldn't even be depended upon to do his sworn duty to defend the Constitution because he was too busy working upon his political career. Disgusting. That is truly a slap in the face to every person who ever made a sacrifice to defend this country.
Am I the only one that can see this self-righteousness-gone-bad mentality of the Republicans running amok?
