YEAH, I KNOW... My current schedule is running me ragged. I'm working 3rd shift, so my days & nights are meaningless. I'm tired all the damn time, crabby, and forgetful. Did I mention forgetful? I get plenty of ideas for posts here, many really interesting ones, but by the time I get home, I'm too damn tired to think coherently. So, to all of my readers (all two of them), that's why I haven't posted much. GRRRRR Ok, I'm really tired, so this is more of a babble than a rant... I've heard a lot of talk concerning all of the sexual predators recently. Mostly from conservatives. With such statements as "they should all be killed" or "they deserve to die" in respect to the predators. This makes me angry, but not for the reasons you may think. First, most conservatives are loathe to spend money on criminals other than to build more prisons. This means that prisons become mere warehouses for criminals. Storing criminals with no attempt to rehabilitate or treat whatever illness they may have. So, they bunch up the "bad guys" all in one small place, with no attempt to make them not do bad things in the future, and then actually have the balls to act suprised when the criminals do bad things again! It's this illogic that really chaps my hide. I don't disagree that some do deserve the death penalty. I disagree with the sense of indignation they come up with. Instead of being proactive and preventing the crimes (or at least attempting to do so), they'd rather act sanctimonious and react to another dead child. That is what irritates me. |
